Project Description:

RND provides Asset Management services for the MBTA Cabot Yard North Project in accordance with the MBTA Asset Management Specification. The project supports improvements at Cabot Yard North through a comprehensive asset management program focused on documenting, tracking, and managing project assets throughout construction. Working alongside the MBTA and Fischbach and Moore Electric Group, LLC (contractor), RND provides asset management support, field oversight, and project documentation.

A key component of RND’s role is management of the project’s Asset Data Information Sheet (ADIS) for Power and Signals assets. RND reviews conformed design documentation and maintains the asset database as project activities progress, capturing and validating information associated with procurement, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, and inspection. Maintaining this information throughout the project lifecycle provides the MBTA with complete and traceable asset records to support efficient operations, proactive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and informed long-term capital planning.

RND’s responsibilities also extend into the field, where the team oversees the design, procurement, installation, and documentation of permanently affixed asset identification tags in accordance with the MBTA Asset Tagging Standard. This work includes coordinating asset tag data with the MBTA, Contractor and Subcontractor, confirming QR code functionality and durability, photographing completed installations, and verifying that asset tags are in place prior to revenue service. Required asset management deliverables—including the Asset Management Plan, Asset Tag Shop Drawings, product data, testing and quality control records, installation documentation, and monthly ADIS updates—are prepared and managed by RND in accordance with MBTA Specification Section 01610.

Throughout the assignment, RND coordinates with the contractor, MBTA, and project stakeholders to keep asset documentation current, incorporate Asset IDs into project records, and maintain compliance with MBTA asset management requirements. This coordinated effort provides a complete asset inventory that supports long-term maintenance and overall project success.
