Project Description:

RND Consultants is supporting the MBTA REA group for AFC 2.0 Charlie Card System. The new fare collection system will make it easier for riders to pay their fares. The new Charlie Card System will introduce new ways to pay fares on buses and at select bus stops through fare vending machines allowing riders to preload Charlie Cards with cash for faster boarding.  

RND is a subconsultant on the project providing real estate services. This includes identifying ownership of proposed locations for new fare vending machines based on preliminary title review. RND prepares and updates the real estate tracking system with ownership information, location, impacted square footage, and assessed values. RND also helps to identify the steps required to coordinate lease/license agreements or a real estate acquisition between impacted property owners and the MBTA. RND assists the MBTA Charlie Card Project team to schedule meetings with each property owner to discuss property impacts and negotiate lease/license agreements on behalf of the MBTA.
